Pakistan celebrates 23rd March Day with traditional passion

On Saturday, March 23, 2024, the nation celebrates Pakistan Day with a fresh commitment to work hard for Pakistan’s stability and economic growth. This day pays tribute to the Lahore Resolution enacted on March 23, 1940, and the implementation of Pakistan’s first Constitution on March 23, 1956, establishing Pakistan as the world’s first Islamic Republic.

The then-Indian Muslim League, under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam M.A. Jinnah, passed/adopted the Pakistan Resolution on March 23, 1940, at the Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore, which called for the establishment of an independent federation to be known as Pakistan, consisting of provinces with a Muslim majority in the north-western and northeastern regions of British-controlled locations in India. The day began with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salutes in the regional capitals. Following the Fajr prayers, mosques held special prayers for the country’s well-being and a sense of unity. Significant government buildings display the national flag.
