However, in response to the food crisis in Sindh, the Governor of Sindh also got in touch with the Chairman of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS). The Red Crescent informed the governor of Sindh about the most recent flood scenario. The Red Crescent was instructed by Kamran Tessori to make use of all available resources and medical knowledge.

The Red Crescent Chairman, meanwhile, informed everyone that the organization offers medical services and ambulances in different parts of Karachi.

According to him, the “Old City area, Korangi Crossing, Nagan Chowrangi, and KDA” are all experiencing red crescent activity. In addition, the Red Crescent volunteers are active in Hyderabad and other Sindh regions. Earlier, Karachi has been affected by the (2) days of nonstop rain, which has raised the water levels in the “Malir and Lyari” rivers and submerged low-lying districts.

Karachi Life Is Affected By Heavy Rainfall

The current weather in Pakistan’s “Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Faisalabad” Karachi’s daily life has been significantly impacted by the light to heavy rainfall that have been falling periodically, flooding key roadways and neighborhoods.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Karachi’s weather problems will not go away. On Wednesday, thunderstorms and possibly heavy rain are expected in several areas of the city. The depression causing these rains is expected to decline today and become a “well-marked low-level area” by Thursday, heading into the Arabian Sea, according to meteorologist Anjum Nazir Zia. Significant interruptions have already been brought about by this method, especially in the suburbs of Karachi.

Water Flow Increases

Suburban rivers including the “Mol, Khadeji, and Jaranda”, which drain into the Malir River, have seen an increase in water flow as a result of the intense rains in Karachi.

In addition residents have been forced to flee to safer regions as floodwaters from the rising “Malir and Lyari” rivers have entered neighboring homes. Particularly impacted are communities along the Malir River, where residential areas are breached by floodwater.

There have been significant traffic interruptions due to Karachi’s unforgiving weather.

There are major delays due to the waterlogging of important roadways like “Shahrah-e-Faisal, Korangi, Qayyumabad, and Korangi Crossing”.

Traffic Affected By Rain

Standing water has also caused significant traffic congestion in the areas close to the “Stadium, Civic Center, NIPA Chowrangi, North Karachi, Expo Center, Kala Pul, and Gora Qabristan”. According to traffic police, floodwater is collecting on this vital road, seriously affecting the Star Gate stop on “Shahrah-e-Faisal”.

The Thaddo Dam overflowed due to the rains in Karachi, flooding parts of the Super Highway and stopping traffic among Hyderabad and Karachi. Large sections of the “M9 Motorway” were placed due to the impact of rising water levels, as confirmed by the “National Highways and Motorway Police”.

To improve flow, efforts are being made to clear the water by eliminating crash barriers. Since then, as the water levels drop, authorities have allowed traffic to resume on the “M9”.
