K-Electric Proposes Rs4.95 Per Unit Rate Cut - AAMNEWSHUB.COM

According to a report on Wednesday 19th of Feb, Karachi’s power company, K-Electric (KE), has petitioned the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for a reduction in electricity tariffs of (Rs4.95 per unit), which will greatly relieve the city’s power users.

Following increasing power tariffs per unit in December 2024, K-Electric has suggested a refund. In December, the business intends to pay its electricity customers about (Rs4.94 billion) under the monthly fuel costs adjustment (FCA).

To review the KE request for a preliminary negative FCA, the agency has set a public hearing for the 26th of February. Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif announced earlier this month that changes in the electrical industry will significantly lower electricity rates for home customers and businesses.

He chaired a review meeting of the electrical sector in Islamabad on Friday and showed satisfaction with the present adjustments, saying they are delivering outstanding results.

According to PM Shehbaz, he has promised to provide a sustainable and reasonably priced electricity supply. According to him, updating contracts with IPPs lowers consumer power costs and saves the public budget.

In order to fully eliminate the losses suffered by all distribution companies in this region, the Prime Minister mentioned the campaign against power theft and promised to accelerate it even further.
