As much as 5,000 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, worth more than Rs25 million, are scheduled to expire next month, according to officials. At the moment, the doses are kept at the FDI’s main warehouse in Islamabad.

According to sources, this batch is the last shipment of COVID-19 vaccines that the federal government has on hand. To prevent any waste, the FDI has called for prompt action in a formal message to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

The NCOC has not responded despite the urgency, it is determined that further instructions are given, any decision about the stock that has expired or is about to expire will remain pending.

It was also mentioned by officials that no new supplies have been sent to the regions because of the dramatic drop in demand for COVID-19 vaccinations.
