450 social media Profiles Banned

The Pakistan capital police’s Violent Extremism Prevention Unit (VEPU) removed 462 social media profiles that were promoting hate, according to authorities. They said the team analyzes and investigates accounts on various social media platforms to fight the spreading of religious, divided, and language hatred and misinformation against the country and its agencies.

The team carefully analyzed social media, identified 1,522 accounts on Twitter, Facebook, and other platforms engaging in such actions, and sent a letter to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) looking for the closing down of those accounts, 462 of which were suspended. In this manner, 65 accounts are involved in religious hate, 47 in anti-government misinformation, and 350 in the propagation of terrorist information. Furthermore, the remaining 1,060 social media profiles will be dismissed shortly. Stopping terrorist activity supports the fight against terrorism.

It improves capital security, according to the police, who added that capital police teams meet with multiple educational institutions and madrassahs regularly, and teachings in mosques are checked as well for violence. Comparably, on social media and other websites, they added that the unit looks at political, language-related, and religious extremist information, generates reports, and detects illegal behaviors warranting legal action.
