Hub Dam Fills To Full Following Heavy Rains

After heavy monsoon rains in Sindh and Balochistan, the Hub Dam in Karachi is currently at its maximum level, according to the sources.
Authorities in charge of irrigation and disaster management have issued emergency alerts because the Hub Dam, Karachi’s primary water supply, has nearly surpassed its maximum capacity. The volume of water at Hub Dam has risen to “338 feet from 335 feet” the day before, says to the Irrigation Department. Since the dam can hold “339 feet” of water, there is just one foot of storage capacity left before it begins to overflow.
A regular safety precaution that is supervised by the Ministry of Water Resources, WAPDA, and the Lasbela government is the Hub dam’s spillway, which can be activated at any time to release excess water.

People who live close to the Hub River are being advised to leave before any unforeseen events arise. Crush plant owners in the area must relocate their staff and equipment away from the riverbanks.
While staying too long to depart could be risky due to potential floods, according to authorities. Approximately “56 kilometers” from Karachi, the Hub Dam supplies “100 million gallons” of water daily to the metropolis and surrounding Balochistani communities. With a 339-foot total capacity, the dam is nearly full.
The reservoir has rapidly filled due to recent rains in the neighboring highlands and hilly regions of Balochistan. In order to maintain the dam safe and avoid any flooding problems, authorities made sure the public that they will release water gradually while closely monitoring the situation.
A flood threat prompted authorities to announce an emergency in “Malir’s Memon Goth when Thado Dam, which is situated in Karachi’s Gadap district, spilled earlier”.
Details indicate that the “M-9 Motorway” has been approached by the dam’s rising water level. Floodwaters flooded portions of the “M-9 at Jamali Bridge”, causing traffic jams between Hyderabad and Karachi. The Karachi Commissioner sent a response team to the location in response to the Chief Secretary’s instructions.
