For the next 3 years, telecom providers will not be charged by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government to install underground cable networks.

By lowering infrastructure costs, the action seeks to encourage high-speed, reasonably priced internet throughout the province. “Enhanced internet access will be helpful to students, freelancers, businesses, and essential services, helping to drive the digital transformation in the region,” said Dr. Shafqat Ayaz, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Science and Technology.

He added that young people, who rely on the internet for “online learning, freelancing, and job prospects”, will gain the most from this strategy. Similarly, modern online access will help “hospitals, banking services, the business community, and other organizations”.

Some people attempt to give the impression that the province government has the right to suspend or restore internet connections, Dr. Shafqat Ayaz explained.

In actuality, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), which is directly under the control of the federal government, has sole authority over this issue. Nonetheless, the provincial government is dedicated to doing everything within its power to guarantee the greatest amount of aid for the populace.

Further he stated in the end that the provision of modern technology and digital facilities to all Khyber Pakhtunkhwa residents is the government’s top goal as it moves forward with complete honesty and commitment towards a digital revolution. In the past, businesses who was interested in placing cables had to pay the NHA (National Highway Authority) 5 rupees each meter.
