On Thursday 12th of June 2025, motorists had major concerns about the safety of the recently built Malir Expressway “Shahrah-e-Bhutto” after an attempted robbery.

On social media, a video of the incident with a civilian named Usama narrating the event went viral. He claimed that thieves attempted to trap many cars by putting tree branches in the center of the Shahrah-e-Bhutto (Malir Expressway) to make drivers stop.

It happened close to Quaidabad. He claimed that after encountering opposition from commuters who reacted with gunfire, the criminals left the area.

Investigation Is Started

The lack of police or other security guards at Malir Expressway was also complained by the citizens.

A police official said that as soon as Malir police received the report, they hurried to the scene. He stated that police patrols have been stepped up in the region and that efforts are being made to get in touch with the victim. According to officials, construction is still going on at the location where the alleged thieves were spotted, and preliminary inquiries indicate they might have originated from the surrounding area. An investigation is in progress.

Another Case

In another case, (2) thieves were murdered and another was arrested in critical condition during a shootout with police in Karachi, according to reports on Thursday.

As per the reports, late last night on Karachi’s Rashid Minhas Road, armed robbers and Shahrah-e-Faisal police engaged in a heated gunfight.

Two of the robbers were immediately slain, according to authorities, and a third was hurt and arrested.

When the culprits spotted the police, they were believed to have opened fire while robbing the populace. Two were straight away killed in the following fire.
