The first-ever visit of a senior Bangladesh Army officer to Pakistan hints at the start of a positive bilateral relationship between both nations.

Pakistan and Bangladesh, two brotherly countries, could not hold positive ties for so long because of the ex-premier Sheikh Hasina. After the dethroning of Sheikh Hasina’s government, the Bangladeshi Army paved the way for a positive relationship between both nations.

For 15 years, there was not a single visit of the higher authority to Pakistan. Right after the change in government, Bangladeshi Senior Army Officer Lieutenant General Kamr-ul-Hassan, along with the army delegation, visited Pakistan. On Tuesday, the delegation visited General Headquarters in Rawalpindi and met the high-ranking military officers.

Kamr-ul-Hassan is the Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Bangladeshi Army Division. He is one of the top Bangladeshi Generals who visits Pakistan after so many years. The ouster of Sheikh Hasina opens the gateway to the positive bilateral relationships between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

During the reign of Sheikh Hasina, the relationship between Pakistan and Bangladesh was at a standstill. Even no one saw the efforts made by the ex-premier’s government in stabilising the country’s terms with Pakistan. However, Sheikh Hasina has tried multiple times to halt the peace in the region. Soon after her exit from the Bangladeshi government, the world saw the initiation of a positive bilateral relationship between both nations.

Both countries are now stepping ahead in growing the positive ties between the nations. Several meetings held at the leadership level and Lieutenant General Kamr-ul-Hassan’s visit with the delegation clearly point to a positive restart between both nations.

As per ISPR, the Bangladeshi General met separately with the Chief of Army Staff, General Asim Muneer and the Chairman Joint Chiefs of  Staff Committee, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza. Within the meeting, both army personnels discussed the safety or security measures of both nations. The military media wing assures that the military of both sides wants a strong military relationship against external influences.

General Asim Munir repeatedly highlighted the significance of the joint efforts taken by both nations in combating terrorism from South Asia. Both nations’ Generals reassured that it is essential to strengthen the defense of both nations to see peace, security and stability within the region.

Lieutenant General Kamr-ul-Hassan praised the Pakistan Army’s efforts in combating terrorism in the country. He appreciated the resilience and steadfastness of the Army in protecting its motherland.
