Authorities Confirm 234 Fatalities In Burner Following Floods And Cloudbursts.

According to the report, a government assessment has shown how terrible the effects of a recent cloudburst and flooding in Pakistan’s Buner area were, destroying lives, property, and infrastructure on a vast scale.
The floods in Buner killed (234) people, the most in the afflicted districts, based on the report.
In addition (575) homes were partially damaged and (162) were completely destroyed by the tragedy. Important infrastructure was badly devastated, with (110) kilometers of roads, bridges, and other structures suffering significant damage.
Too Much Damages
With (55,890) acres of farmland destroyed, the agricultural losses in Buner are shocking. Furthermore, (3,638) cattle died and (825) stores were destroyed, severely harming local livelihoods. The breaking down of water lines and related equipment caused damages to the Public Health Department of Rs (194.8) million. In a similar vein, the Education Department stated that (29) educational establishments were impacted, with one school suffering total ruin and multiple others suffering partial damage.
According to the Agriculture Department, (26,142) acres of crops were destroyed, resulting in losses of more than (Rs 250) million. The Highway Authority reported that about (Rs 320) million was damaged when (4) kilometers of road washed away.
As the area attempts to recover from the extensive damage brought on by the cloudburst and floods, authorities advise that restoration will need substantial resources. The federal government’s commitment to aiding flood-stricken households and quickening restoration operations, especially in the most severely impacted regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was previously underlined by Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
PM Expressed Worries
The prime minister expressed profound worry over the destruction brought about by recent severe (rains, cloudbursts, and flash floods) in “Swat, Swabi, Mansehra, Shangla, and other districts” while speaking over a meeting of the federal cabinet.
He added federal ministries, secretaries, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), and the military forces were fully engaged in relief activities. The premier recalled the damage caused by the floods in Pakistan in 2022, which killed almost (100) people.
He also pointed out that this year’s flash floods killed more than (700) people nationwide, including more than (400) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa alone. Additionally, he sent his support for the victims in (Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Karachi).
The prime minister of Pakistan highlighted the necessity of discouraging unauthorized building beside waterways, pointing out that such activities increased the risk of flooding. The premier of Pakistan also expressed alarm about the widespread tree-cutting in Galyat and other areas, promising to call an environmental protection meeting shortly.
