According to reports, a brand-new fleet of (100) contemporary electric buses has been sent from China to Pakistan.

According to information, the new fleet is currently en route from Shanghai Sea Port to Pakistan and should reach Punjab in the next weeks. Maryam Nawaz, the chief minister of Punjab, declared that all of the province’s districts would have contemporary electric buses running by December.

She underlined the initiative’s inexpensiveness by stating that the fare for these cutting-edge electric buses will just be (Rs. 20). A significant step toward environmentally friendly urban mobility throughout the province will soon be available to the whole population, according to CM of Punjab Maryam Nawaz.

Eleven electric buses were shipped from China to Lahore in February of this year. As part of a trial project, a total of (27) buses were launched in the first phase.

On February 19th 2026, Maryam Nawaz, the chief minister of Punjab, officially launched the electric bus service. The Green Town neighborhood of Lahore is home to the new bus charging station.

Each bus can accommodate up to (60) people, making it a contemporary and eco-friendly way for those living in cities to go to work. All buses were turned over to the Punjab Transport Department for operation by the project’s transport provider.

Tenders for bus services in Bahawalpur and Faisalabad were also released, suggesting that Punjab will continue to expand the environmentally friendly project.
