Following a brief halt, flight operations at Sialkot International Airport were resumed on Tuesday 2nd of September 2025.

The first inbound flight from Sharjah, carrying (170) people, is scheduled to land in Sialkot shortly, according to airport officials. A request for restoration of services was made possible by officials confirming that the runway, apron, terminal building, and vital equipment of the airport were all fully safe from flood damage.

All airlines have instantly released updated flight schedules when operations resume, and airport management reported that all preparations needed for seamless operations have been made.

A public holiday had previously been announced by the district government as floods in Punjab’s Gujrat and Sialkot districts worsened. A flood warning has been issued for Punjab due to significant inflows from India into the Sutlej and Chenab rivers.

As rising water levels continue to endanger lives and property, over (190,000) people have been relocated from flood-affected districts of Punjab, according to NDMA Chairman Lt Gen Inam Haider.

To assess the situation, Deputy Commissioners Noor-ul-Ain Qureshi of Gujrat and Saba Asghar Ali of Sialkot paid a visit to Head Marala. According to DC Qureshi, (20) individuals who got stuck beneath Shahbazpur Bridge were safely evacuated.
