The Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) in Rawalpindi has successfully operated on (2) Pakistani toddlers who were returned from India without medical care.

Thanks to Field Marshal Asim Munir’s prompt action, “9-year-old Abdullah and 7-year-old Minsa got critical care and surgery at AFIC”.

“Field Marshal Asim Munir took right away of our case and took the entire responsibility for the children’s surgeries,” said Shahid Ahmed, the father of the children, in an expression of sincere thanks.

“Thank God, my kids are doing much better now. As a patient, I might not have been able to handle the trauma. The physicians put up a lot of effort, and AFIC is a very remarkable organization”.

In addition Major General (Retired) Dr. Naseer Ahmed Soomro, Commandant and Executive Director of AFIC, commended the medical staff for their work, saying that the entire treatment plan was well-thought-out and, with Allah’s assistance, finally effective.

The story of (2) Pakistani children who were compelled to return from India without getting life-saving medical treatment was previously brought to the attention of Syed Mustafa Kamal, Federal Minister for Health.

Following the Pahalgam incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which killed (26) people—the majority of them were tourists—tensions between Pakistan and India have increased.

India has ordered Pakistani nationals to depart the country and cancelled visas in the wake of the event.

“Two young siblings from Hyderabad, Sindh, Abdullah, age 9, and his sister Minsa, age 7, are among those impacted; they both have a genetic cardiac disease”.

The youngsters were admitted to a hospital in New Delhi after traveling there with their father, Shahid Ali, for life-threatening cardiac procedures.

However, after their visas were taken away, they were refused medical care and left the nation. Syed Mustafa Kamal, the Federal Health Minister, has taken note of the circumstance and directed the Director General of Health to offer the family immediate support. The minister gave his word that the government will help with the children’s medical care in Pakistan. While he went on to say that the kids might have surgery at the National Institute of Heart Diseases and the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC-NIHD) in Rawalpindi.
