On Thursday 16th of October 2025, due to ongoing confrontations at the Durand Line, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has ordered Afghan Transit Trade transportation from Karachi ports to be suspended till further notice.
The Director General (DG) of Afghan Transit Trade headed over a significant meeting at the Directorate of Transit Trade Headquarters, Customs House Karachi, with involvement through Zoom from the “Directors of Afghan Transit Quetta and Peshawar”.
The transit of Afghan Transit Trade has been banned forever because of to the shortage of available space at the “Quetta and Peshawar” customs stations, which are currently packed with containers, according to Customs General Order “98.2025”, which was issued after the meeting.
The directive instructed all terminals to invalidate all gate passes associated with transit shipments from Afghanistan and offload containers that had already been loaded onto cars. Until further notice, the suspension will be in force.
All terminals at “Karachi Port and Port Qasim” have stopped clearing Afghan transit trade containers in accordance with the directive.
“Hundreds of containers placed on trucks are currently waiting for clearance at the South Asia Pakistan Terminal (SAPT), while many more have stopped en route to Quetta and Peshawar, where drivers await the restart of border operations”, according to customs sources.
