A Public Data Protection Advisory Is Released By NADRA.

The public has been advised by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to secure their data online by not disclosing personal information to unapproved websites or mobile applications.
On 6th of August 2025, NADRA sent out a warning about possible identity theft because of increased worries about fake platforms posing as NADRA in order to obtain information on residents.
Recent reports indicate that scammers have taken advantage of citizens by offering rewards in exchange for their identification information, which are then utilized unlawfully.
The authorities highlighted that in the current digital era, safeguarding data online is not only a precaution but also a must. Citizens must refrain from making needless copies of their CNICs, never use them as protection, and never give them to strangers.
Citizens were advised by NADRA to only submit private information to Pak identifying the official application of the authority, such as “CNIC numbers, biometrics, or other identifying data”.
The NADRA identity theft alert further clarified that photocopies are frequently not needed and that original documents are sufficient for the majority of formal procedures.
NADRA confirmed its commitment to safety and public understanding in light of the latest data theft involving over “2.7 million” Pakistanis. By recommending that citizens only use the official “Pak Identity app” for any associated services, the authority highlights the significance of safety.
Additionally, keep an eye out for any frauds that can offer rewards in return for your personal data. If you come across any dubious websites posing as the National Database and Registration Authority, alert them instead of giving them information.
Citizens can safeguard their identities and protect their NADRA data online according to these rules and this NADRA identity theft notice. In the past, the National Database and Registration Authority made it easier for legal heirs all over Pakistan to get Succession Certificates.
A recent announcement states that residents can now apply for Succession Certificates at any of the 186 Succession Facilitation Units (SFUs) set up at NADRA centers around the country.
