Pakistan completely condemns the horrific attack by Israeli forces on the “40-ship” Gaza Sumud Flotilla, which was transporting more than “450 humanitarian workers from 44 nations”, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated on Thursday 2nd of October 2025.

Shehbaz Sharif demanded the immediate release of all aid workers who had been unlawfully detained by Israeli authorities in a social media post on X. He claimed that carrying aid for the unfortunate Palestinian people is the crime committed by humanitarian workers.

This cruelty must stop, the premier declared. He stated that humanitarian help must reach those in need and that cooperation should be given a chance. There is an Italian contingent among the more than (40) civilian boats that make up the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), which transports over (500) lawmakers, attorneys, and activists.

Despite Israel’s numerous alerts to reverse its position, it has been attempting to provide food and medication to break the blockage of Gaza. The CGIL union called the strike, which other smaller unions announced they would join, a “very serious matter,” referring to the attacks against civilian ships that were transporting Italian citizens.

The announcement follows a previous nationwide strike on September 22nd, 2025, that turned violent in Milan and was sponsored by the grassroots Unione Sindacale di Base (USB) in loyalty to Gaza and the GSF.

The USB said that it will shut the port in Genoa, a city in the northwest, and requested all demonstrators to assemble at one of the major entrances at “10 p.m. (2000 GMT)”.
