Islamabad Court Lay Charges Against Accused in Sana Yousaf’s Murder Case

17-year-old Social media influencer Sana Yousaf was killed at her residence. Islamabad High Court indicted the suspect Umar Hayat in the case.
Sana Yousaf’s murder:
In June, the famous social media influencer, Sana Yousaf, was shot dead. The influencer had recently celebrated her birthday. Her social media accounts were filled with her laughs and lovely pictures. Fans had shown their love on her posts.
After hearing about her death, people in a large number visited her profile and expressed deep condolences. People mentioned her in their stories and offered to pray for her.
Umar Hayat was found guilty. He pleaded in the Islamabad Court that he is not involved in committing this crime. While hearing the case, Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka inquired of Umar Hayat whether he killed Sana or not.
Umar replied, “I did not commit any such crime.” The Judge again asked him whether the case against him was just based on a false accusation.
The Judge asked, “Is this all a lie?” The Judge then asked him about his involvement in snatching Sana’s mobile phone. The accused then replied that the case and all allegations are false. He said he is neither involved in the murder nor the snatching.
The court then adjourned the hearing till September 25. Islamabad police arrested him right after the day of the death of Sana Yousaf. The first FIR was registered at Islamabad’s Sumbal police station.
Sana Yousaf’s mother filed the case against an unidentified man under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Sana’s mother claimed that an unknown man carrying a pistol in his hands entered the house around 5 p.m. and shot directly at Sana.
She claimed that the murder was intentional. She said, “A man shot straight at my daughter with the intention to kill.” Later, Islamabad IG said in a press conference that he had arrested a man from Faisalabad in this case. He said that the accused is a 22-year-old man from Faisalabad who had repeatedly tried to contact Sana.
Moreover, he had proposed to her, but she rejected him. In addition, the accused had also tried to wipe out the evidence, but he was captured along with the weapon that was used to murder Sana.
On July 25, police submitted the challan against the accused, including the confession of the accused, to the prosecution. The accused, in his statement, said, “I feel deeply ashamed for committing such a cruel act.” The police said that his statement was voluntary. No statement is made under pressure.
