People Came Out in France Against President Macron’s Policies

PARIS: On Thursday, people in a large number came onto the streets to protest against President Macron’s policies that are disturbing the everyday life of the people there.
Macron faced backlash:
On a call from the trade unions, people of France came out on the streets. On a day of protest, a large number of demonstrators came out of their shelters. Schools are closed, and transportation is stalled.
The leftist CGT said that more than a million people from all over the country took part in the demonstration. According to French authorities, almost 500,000 people from all over the country protest. Fifty-five thousand people are from Paris.
The authorities’ estimation is lower than the Union’s estimates. Last week, Prime Minister Sebastein Lecornu promised to dismantle the political crisis after he took an oath.
Macron’s close ally’s appointment raised the anger of Unions and many French people. Macron faced a severe backlash from the people of France. People came out and demanded his resignation. His tenure ended within 18 months, but his policies have forced people to protest against him.
Sophie Larchet is an old civil servant, and she is also fed up with the toxic policies of the President. She is also one of the protestants. While talking to the media, she openly said, “We’ve had enough, he’s tormenting France.”
Another demonstrator said, “Macron-Napoleon is listening to no one.” People are complaining that the policies of the government are torturing and increasing the gap between the elite and the ordinary people. In addition, they said that such policies are very hard on the poor class of society.
The protestors said, “Every day the richest get richer and the poor get poorer. Smile, you are being taxed.”
The protesters’ anger and an attempt to calm down their anger:
Protestors also show their anger at Bayrou’s measures. As per Bayrou, these measures will save 44 billion euros. Lecornu, however, tried to calm down the anger of the demonstrators.
He promised that the life-long privileges of the former Prime Minister will be abolished soon to avoid the gap between the ordinary and the elite.
Trade Unions called out a protest. The leader of the CGT Union said, “We have recorded 260 demonstrations across France. There are thousands and thousands of strikes in all workplaces.”
More than 80,000 police officers have been deployed. Police in Paris used tear gas on the demonstrators. More than 180 people were arrested.
