The International Cricket Council (ICC) reportedly had to agree to Pakistan’s request to switch the match referee. It is important to remember that the controversy started when the Indian squad declined to shake hands with the Pakistani players and skipper after the toss and after the game in their Asia Cup 2025 group match versus Pakistan.

The fact that Pycroft claimed to have told captain Salman Ali Agha not to shake hands with his Indian opponent shocked Pakistan more than usual.
