The Punjab government has launched the nation’s first airlift drone to help rescue flood victims, marking a significant milestone for efforts to provide relief and rescue in Pakistan.
Officials claim that a person weighing up to “200 kg” may be airlifted and transported to a secure area by an advanced drone. The Home Secretary ordered the drone to be sent to Multan so that it could be used right away in the ongoing flood rescue efforts.
The Civil Defense Department successfully tested the airlift drone in Lahore prior to deployment. To improve their ability to respond to disasters, authorities have also chosen to purchase ten more drones.
According to the Punjab Home Secretary, the “Punjab Civil Defence Resilience Corps” program created Pakistan’s first emergency airlift drone service. He went on to say that trained volunteers and members of the Civil Defense force are still on the front lines, saving lives during calamities like floods.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) had previously stated that no significant increase in the flow of Punjab’s rivers was anticipated and that the monsoon season’s intensity had decreased.
The 10th session of monsoon rains in Punjab has already ended, whereas the upper catchment areas have also seen the end of the monsoon rains, stated to the PDMA Director General.
According to the PDMA, Punjab is not anticipated to see any significant rainfall in the upcoming week. Nonetheless, a number of rivers continue to experience high to extremely high flood levels.
- An exceptionally high flood with a water flow of 230,000 cusecs has been reported at Ganda Singh Wala on the Sutlej River.
- With 137,000 cusecs, the Sutlej is at an all time high flood level near Sulemanki.
- The water flow at Marala on the Chenab River is 62,000 cusecs.
- There have been reports of a low flood of 98,000 cusecs at Khanki headworks, and Qadirabad is also experiencing a low flood with the same flow.
- The water flow has increased to 250,000 cusecs at Trimmu.

The flow of the Ravi River is,
- 26,000 cusecs in Jassar and 31,000 cusecs at Shahdara.
- A medium-level flood of 80,000 cusecs is currently occurring at Balloki Headworks.
- While the river is at an extremely high flood level of 121,000 cusecs at Sidhnai.
According to the Punjab Chief Minister’s orders, the PDMA stated that every department is on alert. All available resources are being used to safeguard citizens’ lives and property, and ongoing river flow monitoring is in progress.
