According to reports, the preliminary dates for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which India and Sri Lanka would co-host, have been announced.

ESPNcricinfo reports that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to hold the tournament within the period of February 7th to March 8th.

The world governing body of cricket has notified the participating nations of the tournament’s window, which will include (55) matches, while it finalizes the dates. Twenty teams will compete in the T20 World Cup 2026, which will be held at (7) locations

  • 5 in India.
  • 2 in Sri Lanka.

According to the publication, Pakistan’s qualification will determine the tournament’s ultimate venue. Depending on whether Pakistan is participating, the final game will be held in either Colombo, Sri Lanka, or Ahmedabad, India.

Noteworthy are the (15) teams who have qualified for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026:

  • India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, USA, West Indies, New Zealand, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, Netherlands, and Italy.

Three of the remaining five teams will be from Asia and the East Asia Pacific qualifiers, while two will be from Africa.

The competition will follow the same structure as the T20 World Cup 2024, which was hosted last year in the USA and the West Indies, according to the ICC.

Four groups of five teams each will be formed from the 20 teams.

  • The eight qualifying teams will be split into two groups of four, with the top two teams from each group moving on to the Super Eight phase.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the T20 World Cup 2026 semi-finals from the Super Eight.
