As floods keep causing damage across Punjab, Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb stated on Saturday 30th of August 2025, that roughly (30) people have lost their lives.

According to her, “2,038 villages and 1,516,603 people have been affected throughout Punjab” by floodwaters from three rivers. The provincial government’s preventative actions saved Punjab from suffering worse human casualties, Marriyum Aurangzeb continued.

Everyone Is Cooperative

According to Marriyum Aurangzeb, all institutions are cooperating “as one fist” to support the public, and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is closely overseeing the massive rescue effort. As directed by the Chief Minister, ministers and assembly members are also taking an active role in relief activities.

Official statistics show that:

  • (405,000) cattle have also been moved to safe areas
  • While over (481,000) people have been moved to safer locales
  • (6,373) those affected by flooding are currently staying in relief camps

According to Aurangzeb, the government has established

  • 321 veterinarian camps that treat rescued animals
  • 511 humanitarian camps
  • 351 medical camps that are open 24/7
  • There are currently 808 boats participating in rescue operations

She underlined that the changing climate has now become a major catastrophe. She declared that Punjab will implement a state-of-the-art early warning system and that a massive effort to clear up boundaries along riverbanks will be initiated following the floods.

Kartarpur Gurdwara Also Quickly Repaired

The historic Kartarpur Gurdwara has already undergone emergency repairs to drain floodwater and fix it, guaranteeing that the revered Sikh shrine will reopen to visitors from around the world in a matter of days.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the chief minister of Punjab, gave specific directions for the cleaning operation. The Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara complex was recently submerged in (10 to 12) feet of water due to extraordinary floods. Motorboats were quickly used by rescue crews to transport Sikh pilgrims to safety. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif quickly issued an order for a comprehensive cleanliness and repair effort.

Following her instructions, Suthra Punjab teams and representatives from other government agencies labored nonstop to clean the area, remove floodwater, and recover the shrine’s sanctity. The large courtyard has been completely cleansed and cleaned, as has the Darshan Deori and every other area of the Gurdwara.
