BEIJING: Trump told the reporters in the White House that the US is looking for a denuclearisation deal with Russia and China. He showed that China will also support the US. On Wednesday, China clearly rejected Trump’s offering and said that it will never be a part of a trilateral denuclearisation deal with the US and Russia.

China rejected the US offer of a denuclearisation agreement:

On Monday, at the White House, Trump called out the reporters. While talking with the reporters about the denuclearisation deal, he said that the US is seeking to pursue it with Russia and China.

He also said that Russia is willing to join hands with the US in the plan. He also expressed his hope that China will give its consent to the denuclearisation deal. He said, “I think denuclearisation is a very…it is a big aim. But Russia is willing to do it, and I think China is going to be willing to do it too. We can’t let nuclear weapons proliferate. We have to stop nuclear weapons.”

The US and Russia hold 90 per cent of the World’s arms. In 2023, Russia was pulled out of the arms control agreement with Washington.

China’s foreign ministry spokesman, Guo Jiakun, was asked about Trump’s proposal of denuclearisation. Guo said that the proposal is unrealistic and neither reasonable. It is foolish to expect that China will give its consent to the denuclearisation plan. He clearly refused to be part of the trilateral denuclearisation offer with Russia and the US.

He stressed, “China and the United States are not at the same level at all in terms of nuclear capabilities. The countries with the largest nuclear arsenal should earnestly fulfil their special and primary responsibility for nuclear disarmament.”

China cleared that the country favours disarmament, but the repeated invitation by Trump to the negotiation deal is not right. It said, China has to maintain its arms to the level necessary for the safety of its motherland. However, China dislikes joining an arms race with any other country.

Clash between North and South Korea:

North Korean President Kim condemned South Korean President Lee for showing his hypocritical behaviour while meeting with the US president, Trump. Lee has made an awful remark about the denuclearisation offer that showed his double standards.

Lee has expressed to build a military trust with North Korea. North Korea has already rejected the denuclearisation offer. It said that it will never give up its nuclear weapons, which are its pride, and declared itself an irreversible nuclear state.

In contrast, when Lee visited Washington, he said that “Seoul and Washington’s alliance would be upgraded to a global level when there is a path for denuclearisation, peace and coexistence on the Korean Peninsula.”

His remarks clearly reflect his double standard, as he once showed his support for Kim, but now he is showing his alliance with Washington that Kim has rejected.

North Korea has said that it does not want to mend relations with South Korea. Pyongyang’s official Korean Central News Agency said, “Lee had pretended that he had a will to restore the relations with North Korea, but had revealed his true colours as a confrontation maniac and a hypocrite with his recent remarks. Lee’s mention of denuclearisation is a little short of a naive dream, like trying to catch a cloud floating in the sky.”

The news agency clarified that North Korea is still sticking to its stance of not abandoning its nuclear weapons, which are the pride and the prestige of the State.

South Korea asked Trump to make a peace deal with North Korea:

The South Korean President asked for help from Trump to revitalise the relation between South Korea and North Korea. He called out Trump as a global peacemaker. He said, “The only person who can make progress is you, Mr President. If you become the peacemaker, then I will assist you by being a pacemaker.”

At the request of Lee, Trump said that he will soon meet the North Korean President, Kim, this year. Trump has once said that he and Kim had fallen in love, but he failed to persuade him to agree on the denuclearisation offer.
