Following early warnings from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) regarding rising water levels in the Sutlej River, officials in Punjab stated Tuesday that over (150,000) people had been moved to safer areas in districts that are at risk of flooding.

The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) began extensive displacement operations in response to the NDMA’s early alerts, putting every relevant department on heightened alert and sending rescue teams to save lives and property. As per details “(89,868) residents of Bahawalnagar, (14,140) residents of Kasur, (2,063) residents of Okara, (873) residents of Pakpattan, (361) residents of Bahawalpur, and (165) residents of Vehari” were evacuated, according to NDMA data.

Approximately (40,000) people had already relocated to safer areas shortly after the first warnings, the government claimed.

Institutions and emergency services have been instructed by the NDMA to maintain a high level of alertness, and residents have been advised to avoid “rivers, streams, and low-lying regions”, stay from needless travel.

While abide by safety precautions that have been broadcast on “TV, radio, mobile alerts, and the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert app”.
