There Is A Flood Warning After India Discharges Extra Water Into The Sutlej River.

On Tuesday 26th of August 2025, India released more water into the Sutlej River, raising the water level and triggering a flood warning in Punjab.
Details indicate that India discharged more water into the Sutlej River Friday night after issuing a warning about the Madhopur Dam’s water release.
Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said it is keeping a careful eye on the situation. Heavy rainfall is predicted across “Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir”, according to Official.
Water Level Increase Badly
The levels of water at the Jassar point rapidly rose as a result of floodwaters that India released into the River Ravi entering Pakistani territory.
In addition (56) workers in fields close to the Ravi River in Narowal were successfully saved. Jassar is currently experiencing a moderate flood, and Shahdara is predicted to be hit by the floodwaters today.
India has increased its water discharge into the Sutlej River. Around the Ganda Singh Wala site, there have already been reports of a high-level flood. Residential houses and hundreds of acres of farmland are currently under water in places like “Uch Sharif, Arifwala, and Pakpattan”.
Ravi & Sutlej Level Continuously Increase
Maryam Nawaz, the chief minister of Punjab, has instructed officials to make sure that impacted populations had to leave as soon as possible. The Flood Forecasting Division reports that water levels in Lahore’s Sutlej and Ravi rivers are steadily increasing.
With a flow of (195,000) cusecs, the Sutlej has reached an exceptionally high flood level in Ganda Singh Wala. At Jassar, the Ravi River is experiencing a medium-level flood with an (88,000) cusec flow.
Furthermore, an alarm has been sent out in response to rumors that India would also discharge water into the Chenab River. Rescue “1122” personnel in Phalia are ready to conduct relief efforts in areas that may be impacted. Residents have been urged to move to safer regions as (22) villages in Tehsil Phalia are at risk, according to PDMA.
