SUPARCO Projects The Date Of The Rabi-ul-Awwal Moon in 2025

On Thursday 21st of August 2025, the Rabi-ul-Awwal moon sighting date for 2025 has been forecasted by the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO).
Muslims commemorate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) throughout the Islamic month, which will begin with the sighting. SUPARCO predicts that on “August 23rd at (11:06 AM), the moon that marks the start of Rabi-ul-Awwal (1447 Hijri) will be born. The moon will be (32) hours and (13) minutes old by the evening of August 24th, which increases the chance that it will be visible”, according to a SUPARCO representative.
According to astronomical data, there is a high probability that the new moon will be seen on the evening of August 24th. The official also stated that in coastal regions, there will be a (45)-minute period between sunset and moonset, which is an ideal situation for moon sighting.
If the moon is sighted, the first day of Rabi-ul-Awwal is anticipated to fall on Monday, August 25th, 2025, with the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal falling on Friday, September 5th. The next day, September 6th, is Defense Day, a national celebration honoring the sacrifices made by Pakistan’s armed forces.
In light of Pakistan’s recent victory over India in the May battle, the government may decide to declare a national holiday this year even though it isn’t legally recognized as such. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will, however, make the last announcement
