Given that the dam’s water level was (1750.70) feet on Tuesday 19th of August 2025, the officials planned to open the Rawal Dam’s spillways at (12:00) noon.

The Rawal Dam reservoir’s water level increased due to the monsoon rainfall, reaching (1750) feet this morning. The Assistant Commissioner Nilore will oversee the opening of the reservoir’s spillways.

To control the flow of discharged water and protect “public safety, rescue, security, and medical personnel” have been stationed at strategic sites, such as “bridges, streams, and susceptible areas downstream”.

According to the district administration, in the event of an emergency, all relevant departments have been instructed to respond promptly, coordinate their efforts, and get in touch with the administration right away.

The public has been advised by the district authorities to avoid drains and streams. In addition to providing water to Rawalpindi and Islamabad, the Rawal Dam is essential for controlling seasonal rainfall.

The twin cities’ risk of urban flooding during the monsoon season is being reduced in part by managing the dam and keeping an eye on the weather.
