By promoting the “Green Pakistan Programme”, President Asif Ali Zardari highlighted the need for a coordinated public response to climate change.

This is because unreliable weather conditions are causing disasters all over the country, most recently in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where flash floods caused by cloudbursts caused significant damage.

Monsoon Tree Planning

The president pointed out in his message on the basis of the Monsoon tree planting campaign that “We must act quickly to plant greater numbers of trees at a time of crisis, when environmental degradation has already brought the devastation to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other areas throughout the country through floods and cloudbursts.”

According to the president, they should concentrate their combined efforts on advancing the Green Pakistan Programme, a national strategy to boost forest cover, repair damaged areas, restore nature’s equilibrium, and encourage nature-based methods.

The president stated in a press release that “this is not basically about growing trees; it is about constructing better places to live, securing livelihoods, and maintaining a climate-resilient future for generations to come.”

Clean And Green Pakistan Campaign

During this plantation campaign, the president encouraged all residents to support this admirable cause and young plants in order to create a more successful, clean, and greener Pakistan for future generations.

At a time when Pakistan was confronted with the hard realities of climate change, President Zardari announced that a statewide tree planting campaign had begun on the 18th of August. He stated that more than 41 million trees would be planted throughout Pakistan between August and October this year.

Furthermore he went on to say that this effort would change the landscapes of towns, villages, schools, and government institutions, increase their ability to withstand climate disasters, and inspire optimism for a more environmentally friendly future.

Everyone Should Play Their Role As Responsibility

Its achievement relies on everyone taking responsibility for it. Farmers can preserve food and the environment by planting trees, the media should motivate homes, and young people must take the lead as change agents.

As a national obligation, civil society, local authorities, and religious leaders must also inspire and motivate people to plant trees,” the president emphasized.

He added that deforestation, increasing temperatures, and frequent floods were issues impacting millions of people and that protecting a country’s forests and natural environment was essential to its prosperity and well-being.

“This movement is not symbolic—it is a vital move in protecting Pakistan’s future”, the president continued, adding that the lack of forest cover was making our land at risk of calamities that threaten our economy, agriculture, and well-being.

Pak’s President went on to say that trees were the environment’s support and one of the best ways to combat climate change. They also cleansed the air they breathed, improved the soil they ate, controlled their climate, preserved their valuable water supplies, and housed uncountable life forms.

Trees prevent floods and landslides, absorb rainfall, and moderate excessive temperatures. He went on to say, “Every tree planted is an element of life for generations and a barrier against disaster.”
