PM Unveils Plan To Boost Tourism And Travel Sector

On Monday 30th of June 2025, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif gave the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) instructions to start promoting travel to the nation right away.
The prime minister gave instructions during a meeting to discuss the promotion of the tourism industry in Pakistan, saying that the public and private sectors should cooperate to make it easier for foreign visitors to visit Pakistan’s tourist hotspots.
Particular Steps Are Necessary
The prime minister stated that planning for long-term investment in the tourism industry should be done, and that particular steps were necessary to increase domestic tourism and motivate local tourists to visit pleasure locations.

While he claimed that promoting tourism in the nation has huge potential to generate foreign exchange reserves.
He stated that “Allah Almighty provides for the country with wealth of resources and priceless beauty,” adding that our country ranks on the same level with other countries in terms of tourism because of the “snow-covered mountains, woods, rivers, plains, deserts, and other natural assets” in the northern territories. In addition, the prime minister gave the order to promote Pakistan as a travel destination abroad.

“Within the goals for national development, we will make Pakistan one of the major destinations for visitors in the world.”
He added that tourism should be promoted throughout the nation with the help of the provinces.
The prime minister received recommendations at the discussion on how to fully use Pakistan’s tourism sector.
The discussion was notified that measures including promoting northern tourist areas, medical tourism, and other activities can be used to promote tourism.
“Attaullah Tarar, the minister of information and broadcasting, Hanif Abbasi, the minister of railways, Gilgit Baltistan affairs, engineer Amir Muqam, Aurangzeb Kitchi, the minister of national heritage, Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah’s advisor, Special Assistant Huzaifa Rehman, and other high-ranking government officials joined the meeting.”
