On Monday 23rd of June 2025, following the resolution of their concerns regarding the federal budget, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), declared his support for the 2025–2026 budget, according to a report.

Speaking before the National Assembly chamber, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari noted a notable drop in inflation and claimed that the government’s actions have improved the country’s economy.

Declaring that the projected zero tax on yearly revenues up to one million rupees is a historic relief for the salaried class, he declared that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will support the federal budget.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari thanked Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, pointing out that the budget also demonstrates Pakistan’s twin focus on reducing poverty and defense.

He noted that there had been significant pay increases for government workers during the PPP’s earlier term.

Although a “10%” raise in pay and pensions seems appropriate, the former foreign minister stated that the PPP had pushed for a larger rise.

He conveyed his wish that the federal government would consult with the PPP more in future budgets.

Additionally, Bilawal clarified the party’s desire that South Punjab receive “30%” of Punjab’s development budget.

He added that targeted investment is needed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, which are frontline areas in the war on terrorism.
