Careem To End Ride-Hailing Services In Pakistan Next Month

After nearly ten years in the market, online taxi provider Careem has announced that it will stop offering ride-hailing services in Pakistan on 18th of July 2025.
In a LinkedIn post, Careem CEO Mudassir Sheikha announced the company’s “new chapter in Pakistan” and stated, “I share the latest information with a broken heart. Careem will discontinue its transportation services service in Pakistan on July 18th.”
Reason Of Closing
A dependable service has become unfeasible in the current environment, according to Mudassir Sheikha, who attributed the closure to growing competition and difficulties with international investment.

“This was a very challenging choice. Justifying the investment levels necessary to provide a safe and reliable service in the nation was difficult due to the difficult macroeconomic reality, rising rivalry, and global capital allocation.”
Too Much Difficult Decision
Furthermore, the CEO continued, “The Careem Rides team ultimately had to make this difficult decision.”
“An iconic chapter that was built with objective, hard work, and a ton of continuous effort is coming to an end.”
In the future, Mudassir Sheikha expected to restore the service in Pakistan.
“Our first line of program was written in Pakistan, and the nation continues to be a rich source of creativity and expertise for Careem. Pakistan is in our DNA.”
“I genuinely hope to bring Careem’s services back to Pakistan in the future, and our loyalty to the country stays strong,” he stated. In 2015, Careem began offering its services in Pakistan.
