WASHINGTON: On Wednesday, Trump made a call to Putin in which Putin cleared that Russia will not sit silent after Ukraine attacks Russian air bases.

Trump’s warning:

Trump warned Ukraine and the rest of the world that Russia would definitely attack back on Ukraine. He asserted that he had a telephone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He told the media about the conversation that happened between them.

He said that Putin is very clear of his retaliatory actions. He said, “President Putin did say, and very strongly, that he will have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields.”

Trump also said that the 1-hour talk with Putin did not go well. He said that Putin is now not ready to stop or resume the negotiation talk anymore. However, there is no official statement made by Russian officials regarding the retaliatory move against Ukraine. However, it had first hinted towards the attack.

RIA Novosti confirmed the conversation with Trump:

Russia’s official news agency, RIA Novosti, confirmed the talk exchange between Trump and Putin on Wednesday. The news agency, however, stated that Putin had informed Trump about the heinous actions of Ukraine and how Ukraine had tried to disrupt the negotiation. In addition, Putin declared Kviy’s government as a terrorist organization.

It was the first telephone call between Putin and Trump after Ukraine’s attack. Trump thus made it clear that the US was not informed earlier about Ukraine’s move.

Ukraine’s plead to the US and increased Russian attacks:

Last week, Ukraine urged the US to pressure Russia to halt attacks on Ukraine. Ukraine hoped that the US would increase the sanctions on Russia due to its continuous missile and drone attacks on Ukraine.

Trump has warned the Russian President and said that Putin is playing with fire and has gone absolutely mad.

The Ukrainian President, on his social media account, talked about the damage caused by the Russian invasion in 2022. He wrote, “Many have spoken with Russia at various levels. But none of these talks have brought reliable peace or even stopped the war. If the world reacts weakly to Putin’s threats, he interprets it as a readiness to turn a blind eye to his actions.”

Meet up between Ukrainian delegation and US senators:

A Ukrainian delegation that includes Presidential Office Head Andriy Yermak and Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko meets with the US senators in Washington. The meeting was meant to talk about the purchasing of weapons and the strategies to stop the war with Russia.

The Ukrainian Presidential Office Head posted on social media and said the delegation aimed to talk about the defense support and the battlefield situation including sanctions imposed on Russia.

His post came right after the second peace talk in Turkey. Ukrainian negotiators said that Russia is not ready to follow the ceasefire deal. However, Russian negotiators put forward the multi-day ceasefire in certain areas of Ukraine.

Putin and Trump discussed Iran:

In a phone call with Putin, Trump also talked about the ongoing agreement with Iran. He said, “Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.” In reports, it is proposed that Iran has stopped its uranium production. Iran has not made any official statement regarding this yet.

Trump stated that “Putin suggested participating in discussions with Iran and that he could, perhaps, be helpful in getting this brought to a rapid conclusion. It is my opinion that Iran has been slow-walking their decision on this very important matter. We will need a definitive answer in a very short time.”

The Iranian leader thus criticized the US’s proposal and said that Iran would not stop enriching uranium.
