On Sunday, the inaugural ceremony of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 took place at the historic Lahore Fort’s Diwan-e-Aam. The event became successful even in the absence of the participating teams and the presence of Pakistan’s 2017 victorious squad. Now, it is upon the victorious members to bring excitement and prestige to the occasion.
Pakistan enters the tournament as the defending champions. The tournament found its way back after being removed from the ICC calendar. Thus, Pakistan was given the chance to defend its title on home soil.

India has refused to send its team to Pakistan due to the political tension existing between Pakistan and India. For the first time, an ICC Champions Trophy opening ceremony took place without the participation of teams. Furthermore, there will be no traditional captains’ photoshoots or joint press conferences. Instead, all of India’s matches will be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
