Erdogan receives grand welcome in Pakistan:

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Pakistan early Thursday morning. The President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan welcomed the Turkish President in Islamabad. 

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised Erdogan on social media and called him a “visionary statesman who has transformed Turkey.” The Turkish president landed in Pakistan after completing his two-day visit to Indonesia. His trip aims to strengthen bilateral relations and explore new areas of cooperation.

Pak-Turkey bond:

Pakistan and Turkey share deep-rooted ties based on history, culture, and mutual respect. Whether it is trade, defence or education, both nations have expanded their cooperation over the years. It is expected that Erdogan will visit Pakistan to strengthen the ties between Pakistan and Turkey.

Pakistan and IAEA nuclear commitment:

On Wednesday, Pakistan and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) renewed their pledge to deepen their nuclear collaboration. Pakistan and the IAEA want to strengthen nuclear technology for peaceful purposes. This commitment emerged from a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi. They stressed how the advancement and the incorporation of nuclear technology can help boost socio-economic growth in Pakistan.

IAEA chief praises Pakistan’s engagement:

The IAEA chief, Mr Grossi, praised Pakistan for its constructive long-term ties with the IAEA and its use of nuclear technology in medicine, agriculture, water management, food preservation and industrial management. Grossi affirmed that the IAEA would continue supporting Pakistan’s initiatives. He also highlighted a valuable exchange of ideas on global challenges and effective multilateralism.

Pakistan’s strategic focus on nuclear technology:

Pakistan has utilised nuclear technology in various sectors, i.e. Nuclear medicine plays an important role in diagnosing and treating cancer. The country has established multiple nuclear medical centres for cancer treatment and research.

Moreover, Nuclear techniques have been used to develop improved crop varieties resistant to diseases and pests. Radiation technology helps preserve food for longer periods, reducing waste and ensuring food security.

PM Shehbaz highlighted Pakistan’s progress in these areas. He credited the IAEA’s support for helping Pakistan achieve milestones in nuclear power generation, industrial growth, and socio-economic development.

IAEA’s role in nuclear energy and climate change:

Nuclear technological advancements help tackle climate change. Shehbaz Sharif praised the IAEA for promoting nuclear energy, which provides a clean and sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. With the IAEA’s support, Pakistan aims to expand its nuclear energy capacity and innovative solutions. 

The future of Pakistan-IAEA cooperation:

Pakistan and the IAEA share a mutual interest in sustainable development. In the future, Pakistan will expand its nuclear power plants to meet growing energy demands, strengthen nuclear safety protocols and enhance research in agriculture.
