Many people in Malaysia, a Southeast Asian nation, favor the Palestinians, and the country has no official relationship to Israel.
Absolutely Rejected
In a statement, the foreign ministry stated that “Malaysia absolutely rejects any idea that might give rise to the compelled migration or movement of Palestinians from their homeland. Such cruel acts are obvious breaks of international law and many UN resolutions, and they amount to cultural cleansing.”
“Any attempt—direct or indirect—to forcefully and violently impose solutions that violate the Palestinian people’s rights and disrespect their right to independence is not acceptable, unfair, and will only make things worse, one of the region’s longest conflicts.”
Anwar Ibrahim, the prime minister of Malaysia, has been outspoken in his opposition to Israel’s war against Hamas, the Palestinian terrorist organization that has controlled Gaza since 2007 and began the conflict with its historic attack on Israel on the 7th of October 2023.
According to Anwar, Malaysia has no ties to Hamas’ armed wing but has good relations with its political component.
Since the start of the conflict, his administration has directed ($10.19 million) in contributions and humanitarian help to the Palestinians in Gaza.
With senior officials stating that the US will neither send soldiers or use public funds for recovery, the Trump administration looked to be canceling its proposal for Gaza on Wednesday 5th of Feb.
