Hamas said it is Reviewing the new Israeli ceasefire counter-proposal
On Saturday, April 26th, 2024, the present Palestinian rebel organization Hamas stated it accepted while reviewing the most recent Israeli counter-proposal over a possible truce in the region of Gaza, along with the freeing of people in captivity. “This morning, the Hamas leadership got the official Zionist occupation answer to the leadership’s approach, which was presented to the Egyptian and Qatari intermediary on April 13th,” Khalil al Hayya, Deputy Head of Hamas’ Politics Department in Gaza, stated in a brief announcement. “The organization will analyze this suggestion and then give an opinion.”
Therefore, on April 13th, Hamas called for a lifetime agreement, which Israel rejected. A group from Egypt, the mediator, and their representatives came to Israel to restart delayed peace talks, according to Israeli and Egyptian media sources. Egypt, together with other mediators like (Qatar and the United States), continues to be but without success attempting to reach a ceasefire agreement since a single-week pause in violence in November, when (80) Israeli captives held in Gaza were released in return for (240) Palestinians imprisoned in Israeli jails. Following then, the international condemnation of the conflict’s impact on Palestinian civilians in Gaza has grown, as have demands from Hamas to free the remaining captives captured after the October 7th bombings that sparked the conflict.

Multiple Israeli media sites, reporting secretive officials, indicated that Israel’s war cabinet planned a fresh agreement plus a captive exchange plan on top of the Egyptian delegation’s trip. According to Al-Qahera News, which is associated with Egyptian state intelligence departments, there were signs of “apparent achievement in bringing the viewpoints of both Egyptian and Israeli delegations nearer.” The indications of new peace talks clashed with continuous Israeli operations for a military drive into Gaza’s (southern) city of Rafah. At the same time, dispersion from the battle triggered uninterrupted attacks throughout the area. The war in Gaza had been included on the list of matters for a global conference that was to begin across the coming weekend in Saudi Arabia.
The World Economic Forum (WEF) important meeting, which begins in Riyadh on Sunday, April 28th, will consist of a Gaza focus meeting on Monday, April 29th, featuring recently appointed Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, and Sigrid Kaag, the United Nations aid coordinator for the Palestinian territory of Gaza. “The conversations with European, American, and regional colleagues over Gaza, especially the broader circumstances, are scheduled in Riyadh,” an official source told.
