Chasing the target, Pakistan suffered a significant loss at the start of the innings when captain Babar Azam returned to the pavilion after scoring just five runs in the second over. In the final overs, Imad Wasim scored 22 runs off 11 balls to bring the team closer to victory, but he could not succeed. The Pakistan team scored 174 runs after losing eight wickets in the allotted overs, and New Zealand won the match by four runs. To ease the pain of the Pakistan team losing the game, cricket fans openly targeted the Pakistan team, especially the captaincy of Babar Azam, in their harsh and critical comments on social media.

While many social media users questioned Babar Azam’s captaincy, some expressed disappointment over the Pakistan team’s performance by sharing a picture of a child participating in the match being upset after the game’s decision. Some users also appreciated Shadab for his brilliant catch on Mark Chapman. After the Pakistan team’s defeat by the slightly weaker and inexperienced New Zealand team, a user, Hamza Shaikh, shared a picture of a disappointed Shaiq child and commented, ‘You know the saddest thing about these pictures is that the streak is not over yet and you have to play the next T20 World Cup with this defensively minded captain and I Pretty sure he will hurt you a lot. Shame on Babur Azam.
