The President of Iran comes in Pakistan for a 3-day visit

Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi came to Pakistan on Monday, April 22nd, for a 3-day official visit. The president of Iran arrived in the federal capital with his wife and a high-ranking entourage of cabinet members as well as top government officials. According to the Foreign Office (FO), Ebrahim Raisi, President of Iran, arrived at Islamabad International Airport and was greeted by Housing Minister (Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada) along with Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran (Mudassir Tipu). The government representatives will discuss ways to expand relationships between the two countries, such as commerce and working together in energy and agriculture, among other areas.

The two sides will discuss working together on local and worldwide concerns, as well as mutually beneficial relationships in fighting the common danger of terrorism, corresponding to the foreign office. Depending on sources, the President of Iran’s objectives include the following:

  • International relationships.
  • Partnership in security.
  • The gas pipeline project.
  • Discussions about a possible free trade agreement.

Both countries have also resolved to build a combined unique economic zone in order to strengthen overall economic cooperation. However, the combined Special Economic Zone would be developed through government-to-government collaboration. As reported by sources, the federal government’s cabinet approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Iran throughout President Ebrahim Raisi’s scheduled travel to Pakistan on April 22nd.

As per sources, both governments have completed a draft (MoU) with a unique economic zone to be built on the (Ramdan-Gabad) border. Throughout his tour, Iran’s president is also going to Lahore as well as Karachi for discussions with provincial leaders. The president also plans to visit ( Allama Iqbal’s) tomb. Ebrahim Raisi plans to visit (Quaid’s) tomb in Karachi to give tribute to the founder of Pakistan. The foreign leader is going to stay in Karachi until he goes back to Tehran on Wednesday, April 24th. The province officials are on a high-level alert as a result of the highly-profile visit, while Karachi has announced a day of rest for the public on April 23rd.
