To celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will view Shawwal moon on April 9th, 2024

On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, Pakistan’s Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will gather at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony to see the Shawwal moon, announcing Eid-ul-Fitr, the holiday enjoyed at the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramazan throughout the Muslim world. The gathering, which Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad supervised over, will bring together representatives from the (Ministry of Science and Technology), (the Pakistan Meteorological Department) PMD, and the (Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission) Suparco. (Director General Syed Mushahid Hussain Khalid), (Allama Muhammad Dr. Hussain Akbar), (Mufti Fazl Jamil Rizvi), and (Maulana Muhammad Yasin Zafar) are also joining the gathering.

Representatives of zonal committees from (Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, and Peshawar) are also contributing to the moon sighting. Maulana Azad, Chairman of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, highlighted the importance of public involvement in the procedure and asked citizens to look for the Shawwal moon, which signals the completion of Ramadan. It is interesting to note that the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted that the Shawwal moon will be visible throughout Pakistan on April 9.
As stated by PMD, the Shawwal moon will rise on April 8 at (11:21 p.m.) local time. On April 9, the moon is expected to be between 19 and 20 hours old.

The meteorological agency stated that the human eye will see it for approximately fifty minutes after sunset. The PMD noted that when the moon is visible on April 9, Eid-ul-Fitr will be enjoyed on Wednesday, 10th April.2024. At the same time, the federal government scheduled a (5) day vacation in honor of Eid-ul-Fitr, which celebrates the conclusion of the Islamic month of Ramadan. Many of the southern areas of Pakistan, such as Karachi, are likely to see blue skies on April 9. Still, northern places may have overcast weather during the moon viewing.

As a result, the Shawwal moon will likely be seen on April 9. As per a Cabinet Division announcement, the vacations will take place from (Wednesday, April 10 to Saturday, April 13), giving people a (4) day of relaxation to celebrate this important event. Eid-ul-Fitr is an important festival in the Islamic calendar that occurs at the completion of the fasting month of Ramzan.

Muslims worldwide complete a month of fasting, while Eid festivities celebrate the completion of this period of self-control. Furthermore, the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia recently issued an order asking everyone living there to take an interest in Shawwal crescent sightings on April 8. If anybody sees the crescent moon by using telescopes, binoculars, or the naked eye, they must directly submit information about it to the local court.
