506 MM Of Rain Causes Gujrat, Punjab, To Flood Its Cities.

On Thursday 4th of September 2025, according to the deputy commissioner, (506 millimeters) of rain fell in just (20) hours, causing disturbances throughout the city and its environs.
The rainstorm forced the storm drain on Qamar Sialvi Road to overflow, flooding surrounding homes and businesses, the deputy commissioner said.
Likewise, as rain and floodwaters rushed into residential and business structures, Katchery Road and WAPDA Colony were flooded. The area saw catastrophic flooding as a result of Bhimber Nullah’s dangerously high swelling.
Additionally, “Shakargarh and Zafarwal” saw a lot of rain, which caused low-lying regions to flood. Access to several villages was cut off when a bridge on the Lora River washed away due to a flash flood caused by heavy rainfall in Abbottabad.
In the meantime, Punjab is expected to experience intense rains through September 5th, increasing the possibility of severe flood conditions. The spillways in Khanpur have been opened since the water level in the Khanpur Dam has risen above the threshold.
As per Irfan Ali Kathia, Director General of the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority, three Indian dams are almost at capacity, and the Ravi River’s water level is expected to be high for the next two weeks. He told the media in Lahore that “(75) villages in Toba Tek Singh and (136) villages in Khanewal” were impacted by flood water. Based on the DG PDMA, “floods have impacted nearly (3.7 million) people in Punjab across all (3,900 villages)”.
“One million animals and about (1.4 million) humans have been relocated to safe areas”, according to Irfan Ali Kathia.
